Leadership for Kids

Leadership for Kids is a unique program for children ages 5 – 10 who want to learn how to take initiative, work with others, and change the world.

Leadership for Kids experiences equip children with skills in critical thinking, collaboration, teamwork, and persuasion in order to change the world. During the week, based on a weekly theme, children will complete leadership exercises; learn about effective leaders today; select a topic and explore it in depth; identify an area where they could take action; and invent a solution to share with others.

Past sessions included projects on addressing the growing global learning crisis and  homelessness in Houston.

Global Education

Students led a school supply drive – in partnership with their local YMCA – to support local children who not have access to school supplies for the upcoming school year. They produced a video to promote their drive and created thank you cards for donors that also raised awareness of over 61 millions of girls who do not have access to school globally.

Design for Good

Students explored how architecture and design are a reflection of local geography. They also learned about families who did not have a home and ideas that spark innovative public housing. Children, inspired by the hopeful story of a homeless mother and her three children in August, Maine, designed the below floor plans and elevations for a homeless family. They constructed a 3D model to share with their parents and peers.
