Two of our #LeadershipForKids students launched a campaign in support of the YMCA’s #OperationBackpack. They also designed postcards as a thank you for neighbors who choose to donate.
These two young leaders created only 61 limited-edition, handmade postcards. Why? To raise awareness of the 61 million girls who are out of school. And this was all their idea.
School supplies can be dropped off at Montessori Preschool @ Copperfield, 8007 Queenston Boulevard, Houston, TX 77095 until August 11.
The YMCA is collecting backpacks and school supplies to support children across Houston so they can start school with the right tools. All supplies will be given to the Langham Creek YMCA. Drop by and you get your limited-edition postcard!
Recommended supplies include:
- 1 package of pens
- 1 package of #2 pencils
- 1 pencil sharpener
- 1 eraser
- 1 24-pack of crayons or 8-pack of markers or colored pencils
- 1 12-inch ruler
- 1 pair of child safety scissors
- 2 pocket folders
- 2 spiral notebooks (100 sheets each)
- 1 one-inch wide binder
- 1 glue bottle or glue stick
- 1 roll of tape
- School box for storing supplies
- 1 12″ Ruler
- 1 package ruled looseleaf 8.5 x 11 paper (wide ruled)
- 1 new backpack
