#Election2016

Our Primary and Kindergarten students had an election to decide our school mascot.  They were choosing between a bumble bee, a spider, or a caterpillar.

Our students registered to vote and waited in line to get to the voting booth.  Their registration was verified by volunteers, and each student received a paper ballot to indicate their choice.

They dropped their vote in the Ballot Box and listened to children campaigning for their choice of mascot.  The students tallied the votes, using their counting skills. And the Caterpillar won!
We used this activity to model the election process.  And we also used it for students to provide input into the decision making process for our mascot.  Their input is critical as we make a decision.
