2nd Annual Field Day

Everyone had a blast at our 2nd Annual Field Day!  After the Pledge of Allegiance, the classes competed in lively games of tug of war, a sack race, and baton relays.  During the event, we discussed sportsmanship, team work, and the importance of exercise and having fun, and everyone received a special participatory ribbon and medal.   As the 2012 Olympic Games near, discuss the importance of sportsmanship, determination, and perseverance with your child - sport teaches great character traits that last a lifetime.

Laissez les bon temps rouler!

This year's theme - The Deep Sea - celebrated marine life around the world.  Children were assigned a different sea animal and with the help of their parents, created beautiful floats representing their respective animal.  Students paraded the floats outside in front of their classmates followed by informative oral presentations on their research.

Welcome Aboard!

Mr. Mauricio, Dean’s Dad, visited school last week to share his experiences as a pilot with Continental Airlines.  He showed a presentation to our students, which included pictures of his flight instruments, and spoke of his experiences in the air.   All our children took home a special wing pin.

Birthdays: The Montessori Way

Birthdays in the Montessori classroom are a time to emphasize a child’s growth since birth and her role in the greater universe.  The celebration is a fun way to introduce the concepts of time, such as the year, the month, and the day, as well as the earth, the sun, and how the earth revolves around the sun.
